BIBLE TRAINING CENTRE FOR PASTORS (BTCP)In 1988, Dennis Mock led a Pastors' Conference in Kenya with 93 pastors. He witnessed the desire and need of the pastors for pastoral training. Burdened by what he saw, he wrote the 10 course curriculum (hand written) of 300 pages within 16 months. In 1990, he returned to Kenya to train the first class of 21 pastors. Since then, by word of mouth and the blessing of God, the BTCP concept and curriculum has spread to 80 countries of the world. There are now 77 translations or translation projects and 30,000 pastors and church leaders have graduated from the BTCP training. BTCP can be contacted directly at www.bibletraining.com THE CONCEPTLocal Church Based. BTCP is designed to be a local church based training tool to equip pastors and church leaders to become effective in ministry. BTCP is also used in Bible schools and Seminaries across the world. When basic Bible training is available for local pastors, they do not need to relocate to faraway places. Many pastors who graduate from formal training never return to their home areas and the local church loses a leader. Non-Traditional. Instead of motivation coming from fear of passing a grade, BTCP does not require traditional means of evaluation, e.g. quizzes, exams, term papers. Motivation comes from a desire to be effective in ministry. Affordable. The BTCP curriculum costs a fraction of the cost of formal training, so that national pastors in developing countries can afford the training. Practical. Instead of being a collection of information, assignments are practical and thought provoking, training a pastor or church leader not to just memorize information but to assimilate God's Word in a ministry context. Relational. In local contexts, students are usually personally known to the trainers and relationships are developed through the life of the training. Reproducible. The BTCP training is not complex or theory only but is material that a graduate can use to teach others also. Thirty percent (30%) of CCI graduates are now trainers of new classes. THE CURRICULUMThere are two tracks of study of the BTC curriculum. BIBLE TRAINING CENTRE FOR PASTORS (BTCP) is for pastors, church planters, missionaries, elders and deacons. Courses include:
